Rain, a lesson...

Rain
Each moment is a lesson. A lesson in breathing, thinking, walking, speaking....learning. Monsoon, particularly, makes me introspect the different aspects of life. Perhaps, the life-giving water falling from grey, drab skies hold the ultimate lesson. Every drop falling for a purpose, to create a stream which journeys to the sea or gets soaked up by the ever-thirsty earth, to replenish the water tables beneath. Nothing is wasted. Not a drop. Every living creature, plant or animal alike, needs that water. The constant spatter on the tarp, sings a monotonous song, the rhythm changing with the intensity of the grey in the sky.
Like the breath of a tired soldier, the struggling wind tries to fight the constructs of man, blowing and blowing across the high and low concrete odes to survival. There are no leaves here to rustle, it seems to be saying. The constantly changing intensity of the rain numbs my thoughts. It is a lesson in meditation. No thoughts fighting for my attention, no worries about the next moment, just the wet sound which tries to teach me to learn something. Maybe, a lesson in stillness found in constant motion.
